I recently listed my favorite Beatles songs. Now for Led Zeppelin. There's only one song I don't like, Sick Again. Here's the fav's:
Top tier: Hats Off to (Roy) Harper, Boogie With Stu, Hot Dog, Misty Mountain Hop, Since I've Been Loving You.
Next to top tier (really close): Rock and Roll, Battle of Evermore, Lemon Song, That's the Way.
Coming soon: Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, The Who, U2.
What, no Stairway to Heaven?
ReplyDeleteI know it has little to with stairways or heaven, but as a song form it is perfect in every way.
I believe and in fact tell anyone desiring to become a worship leader in a church to learn to do stairway well and apply the principles to their worship leading.
Start small,
Build,
Bridge out to a chorus
Float out hard,
Ramp back,
Quiet,
Small reprise,
close on a single note
Every good worship song should have these same elements for full impact.
The Who, Stones and a FEW Beatles songs are good.
I don't see Jethro Tull there anywhere. What's a reprise without Jethro?
Sinner!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Christians could listen to such "worldly" music? :)
Just got the remastered Mothership
Bruce
No, Gene, it's like the sign said in the music store in Wayne's World: "No Stairway to Heaven." I got burned out on that song about 15 years ago.
ReplyDeleteLed Zep - I heard they reformed for a few shows - now that would be awesome concert to take in. I mine as well give a list of my fav's from these guys:
ReplyDeleteTop Tier: Down By the Seaside, In the Evening, That's the Way
2nd Tier: In My Time of Dying, Ramble On, Bring it on Home, Gallow's Pole, Tangerine, Battle of Evermore, Black Country Woman
