Today was my dad's 80th birthday. We had a family gathering over at their house and had dinner. We all celebrated and gave thanks for a dedicated father and grandfather. He has always fixed things and helped out greatly with all of our doings.
My brother asked him which decade for him was the biggest in terms of change. His reply was the 50's because that's when he got his bride (this would be my mom) and started his career. All the grandkids got him cards, and my mom made a cake with two candles, an "8" and a "0."
Happy birthday, dad. We love you.
Congrats to your Dad on reaching such a milestone. Of course your Dad reaching this milestone means that you are so young any more either :)
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how time flies. Things seem like yesterday and then all of a sudden "Wow Dad is 80." This really set in with me when I realized my oldest son will be 30 in a few months. 30. Man his mother is getting old :)
Enjoy your time with your parents. Mine died young and I miss them greatly

That sounds great :-)
ReplyDeleteNice to have your parents around even to such old age. I wish my parents would too... not likely with my Dad's lungs as they are... maybe 3-5 years more? We'll see what God has in store.
With you Dad being 80... he really must have some amazingly different memories of "Law Enforcement" compared to what "Peace Officers" are experiencing (and doing) these days! I wonder if he ever had any Andy Griffith type experiences!? :-)
